This Lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery box is suitable for the transport and storage of batteries and cells in accordance with the ADR agreement, provided that the relevant packing instructions are followed. The packagings meet the requirements for substances of Packing Groups I, II, or III (marked X, Y, or Z in the UN code) according to ADR / RID / IMDG / RTDG regulations.

This transport packaging can also be used for other hazardous materials, provided they are compatible with the material resistance of steel (hot-dip galvanization) and the specific ADR packing instructions for the particular hazardous substance are followed.

Certification and Types

  • 600 l and 800 l variants are certified according to Chapter 6.1 of the ADR as steel boxes (4A).
  • 1500 l and 1800 l variants are certified according to Chapter 6.6 of the ADR as large steel packagings (50A).
  • Steel packagings of these types do not require periodic recertification (testing in an authorized laboratory) during their service life, provided they do not show damage affecting safety.

Scope of Use for Lithium Batteries

In accordance with the packing instructions (specifically P903, P908, P910 for 4A and LP903, LP904, LP905 for 50A), the packaging is intended for:

  • Other lithium batteries (e.g., new batteries within the distribution chain).
  • Lithium batteries transported for disposal or recycling.
  • Prototypes and small series (up to 100 units) transported for testing.
  • Damaged or defective batteries, excluding critically damaged units (i.e., those prone to rapid decomposition, dangerous reaction, fire, dangerous evolution of heat, or emission of toxic, corrosive, or flammable vapors).

  • Equipped with a handle.
  • Lockable in an open position at 81 degrees; automatic locking at 270 degrees.

  • Lid-assist springs.

  • Side thickness: 2 mm.
  • Bottom thickness: 2.5 mm.
